Permanent plants

Treatment of ground water entering underground developments represents a number of challenges due a high variability in flow and the potential contaminants that may be present. Hydroflux has a wealth of experience in wastewater treatment and has the capability to conduct complete design and construction projects.

Hydroflux has a range of proprietory products ideally suited to for the treatment of ground water such as HyDAF dissolved air flotation systems, clarifiers and lamella separators, chemical dosing equipment, media and membrane filtration systems and solids handling equipment.

Treatment process

Once infrastructure projects are complete, surface water run off and ground water collected in road and rail tunnels will still contain some degree of contamination and require treatment.

Hydroflux has constructed many water treatment plants using a variety of processes including clarification, media filtration and ion exchange systems to ensure that water is sustainably recycled or safely discharged to the environment.

HyDAF systems are often used for initial clarification of ground water infiltrating into road and rail tunnels

Once the solids have been removed form the water stream, additional treatment is usually required to remove trace metals, hydrocarbons and other contaminants. This is typically achieved by filtration using targeted media such as green sand.

Due to the need to sustainably reuse water wherever possible additional stages of treatment are often included at the end of the process to enable  recycling to occur. Following media filtration, a form of membrane filtration followed by disinfection will usually achieved the desired results.

Hydroflux employs qualified civil, mechanical, chemical and electrical engineers plus a team of experienced project managers, site supervisors, commissioning engineers and service technicians based in offices in most capital cities providing a local presence throughout the duration of the project.

All projects are conducted under externally approved occupational health and safety, and environmental management systems.

Hydroflux is Australia’s first Water-tech company to achieve Climate Active certifications which means his means you are engaging with a carbon neutral organisation without increasing your carbon footprint and you are supporting positive and verified action on climate change.

Hydroflux can complete all the following works in-house which are typically required to construct a wastewater treatment plant.

  • Process design, development of PID’s and HAZOPS reviews
  • Establishment of the most suitable wastewater treatment plant layout
  • Equipment and component selection
  • Civil and building designs including preparation of documentation for council or other regulators
  • Electrical design and programming
  • Project management and site supervision
  • Environmental / Occupational health and safety plans and report
  • Quality assurance plans
  • Earthworks, civil works, building works, mechanical and electrical installation
  • Commissioning, training and documentation as required.

Stainless steel panel tanks are often used for aeration tanks.

Operation and support

The provision of various levels of support is critical to the ongoing successful operation of construction water treatment plants.

Hydroflux has a team of service technicians and engineers in most capital cities who can provide  on site  and remote  technical support, regular service and maintenance and offer 24/7 emergency call outs.

Various chemicals are required for water treatment plants on construction sites including acid, coagulants, flocculant and various chemicals for the downstream polishing stages when required. Hydroflux not only designs suitable chemical storage and dosing facilities but can also offer its own range of proprietary chemicals specially formulated to treat water from construction sites.
