Hydroflux to Provide High-Efficiency Aeration Solution for Lower Molonglo

The Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre (LMWQCC) located near Canberra is the largest inland wastewater treatment facility in Australia, servicing a population of approximately 570,000 or treating up to 100 million litres per day (100 MLD).

With an increasing population in Canberra, the LMWQCC is undergoing an upgrade to provide increased capacity to meet future demand of approximately 140 MLD.

As part of the upgrade Hydroflux was awarded the design, supply, manufacture, installation supervision and commissioning of the diffused aeration system together with our proprietary HyGrid® Liftable Frame mechanism.

“We are excited to be working on this upgrade for such a major treatment plant. This is our fourth project for a 100+MLD aeration solution system, with our largest being 180 MLD. Our AEROSTRIP® technology provides tiny bubbles that increases oxygen transfer, reducing power consumption and the associated carbon emissions. Installations across Australia has demonstrated not only exceptional efficiency but also a life of >12 years, due to the proprietary polyurethane membrane used.  

Our HyGrid® removable lift mechanism will provide easy access to the diffuser grids as part of regular maintenance. Our system has been developed over the last decade to provide a robust, fully stainless steel grid system with a design life of twenty five years” says John Koumoukelis, CEO of Hydroflux.

AEROSTRIP® is an ultra-fine membrane diffuser manufactured by Aquaconsult from Austria.
