Hydroflux Awarded Storm Screen for the Grassmere Wet Weather Storage Facility

October 29, 2026

The Grassmere Wet Weather Storage Facility located in East Papanui, in northern Christchurch, consists of a diversion chamber with a screen and penstock weir, followed by a wet well where the overflow is pumped to a 3,400 kL storage tank that is fitted with flushing and odour control, which in turn can release the flow in a controlled manner back to the network. The system will be designed to handle up to 150 L/s during a storm event.

As part of the works Hydroflux was awarded the design, supply and commissioning of a HUBER RoK2 storm screen. The screen will process up to 150 L/s of wet weather flow from the diversion chamber. Fitted with a 6 mm perforated screen the unit will remove unwanted screenings, plastics and other debris prior to being pumped to the storage tank.

The RoK2 is a horizontal screen that is fitted within an overflow weir, making it well suited to wet weather overflow screening.

It is commonly fitted at treatment plant intakes or for use in wet weather diversion and storage facilities.
